Seline Ryan

Board Member and Strategic Communications Lead

Seline Ryan is a Board Member and Strategic Communications Lead for the Space Nursing Society. She is an Australian Registered Nurse with more than 9 years of nursing experience across high-acuity, resource-limited, and autonomous healthcare environments, including emergency care, correctional health, defence-affiliated healthcare, neurology, veteran telehealth, pandemic and outbreak response and geriatric care.

Her work focuses on helping space organisations design for the reality of human performance in extreme environments, bridging the gap between what systems measure and how humans actually respond so missions remain viable, resilient, and high functioning over time. She is passionate about ensuring humans thrive in space, not merely survive, while translating insights from space health into stronger, more resilient healthcare systems on Earth.

Seline’s interests include human performance in isolated environments, nursing contributions to space health and mission design, autonomous biomedical systems, anticipatory care, human-systems integration, crew cohesion, ethics, and the future of sustainable human spaceflight. Through her role within the Space Nursing Society, she supports greater collaboration between healthcare, industry, and the wider community while contributing to the growing global conversation surrounding human health and performance in space.
